Fiber laser rust removal machine FAQ (II)

2025-06-30

18. Is this technology suitable for historic preservation/restoration?

Yes, but it all depends on the material and contaminants/coatings of the substrate. Our fiber laser rust removal machines have been used for historic preservation and restoration.

19. What is the smoke produced by the fiber laser rust removal machine? Where are the smoke particles?

Anything on the surface may be present in the air. Smoke particles with handheld and mechanical automated cleaning lasers are either filtered in the built-in optics or absorbed with a separate channel.

20. Is the fiber laser rust removal machine the same as a cutting laser?

No, our lasers are very different. Laser cleaning provides pulses of light, while cutting lasers are constant, focused light that cuts or penetrates the product. The difference in the nature of the two applications leads to huge differences in equipment, related applications and safety.

21. Why do we offer different systems when they all do the same thing?

First, the cleaning rates of our laser systems vary greatly. However, there are subtle differences between laser systems, depending on the actual application. Sometimes we need to scale up or down the cleaning rate, or adjust other properties to achieve the desired effect. Please contact us to find the right technology for you.

22. How long will it take if I purchase a fiber laser rust removal machine?

Because each laser solution is customized and built to order, it may take up to four months to meet your acceptance criteria. This is to enable us to provide you with the exact equipment, rather than just selling an existing unit.

23. Do you lease/other financial options for selling laser systems?

Please contact us and we will discuss your needs.

24. Can I visit your facility?

Contact us. If appropriate, we would like to invite you to visit and experience firsthand how the laser works. If you would like to visit the facility to see or try out our laser technology, please call us to see if this is feasible.

25. Will you demonstrate at my facility/office?

Yes, as part of the sales process, we are happy to come to your facility and perform a demonstration when appropriate. Contact us today to find out what is right for you.

26. If I pay, will you ship the fiber laser rust removal machine to my requested site for testing?

Before shipping a fiber laser rust removal machine, we want to tailor our laser technology to your needs. During the sales process, we can discuss shipping a fiber laser rust removal machine to your facility for testing. However, nearly all applications go through previous steps in our process before field testing.

27. Can I ship parts - including large parts?

While we have a shipping dock and forklifts, the size of our lab and testing area is limited. Contact our sales team to determine how we can better assist you.

28. Can I run my laser 24/7?

Our fiber laser rust removal machines are designed to meet your specific needs, including 24/7 operation. Many of our lasers can run nonstop 24/7/365.

29. Does the laser system require consumables?

The main consumables are optical wipes or swabs (they don't leave contaminants behind), dehydrating alcohol (which doesn't spread and doesn't dry quickly), desiccant packs, and water filters. These are the most common. More consumables depend on your specific application.

30. How wide is the beam? Can we go wider?

The beam goes from a point to nearly four inches. When you see a beam/line, there are a lot of pulses going back and forth to create the line. If you want a wider beam, it's technically possible, but you'll be much slower to move such a "larger" line forward or backward to clean an area. No particular benefit.

31. How long is your warranty? What does it cover?

Our manufacturer's warranty is one year. It starts after we install the equipment and covers everything except the optics, plumbing, electrical fences - this is because these items are consumables and not a manufacturing issue.

32. How fast does the laser clean?

This depends on the laser cleaner and setup, contaminants, part geometry, and thickness. A general cleaning speed specification is: Maximum cleaning speed is about 2 square feet per minute per mil (.001") of coating thickness.

33. What are the power requirements for your laser cleaning solution?

This depends on the type of laser system you are using. Our low power lasers use 120 volt power, while the mid and high power lasers are 480 volt three phase power.

34. What kind of environment is suitable for laser systems?

There are temperature tracks and humidity tracks, but we can adjust any laser configuration to function in extreme environments. If you have any questions about environmental factors, please explain them during our sales process to get the laser that suits your needs.

35. Will it work on a robot? Or integrated into a production line?

If you are looking to automate, all of our laser systems can be mounted to a robot. This is a key part of our custom builds. We are happy to use this.
