Common Welding Methods

2025-11-27

Definition of welding: Welding is actually a process that combines two or more pieces of metal “intimately” in a specific way. It can make the separated metal parts into a strong and firm whole, as if they have never been separated.

Classification of  Portable Fiber Laser Welding Machine

Manual arc welding: It is the “big brother” in the welding family, with a long history and a wide range of applications. During the operation, the master welder held a welding rod wrapped in medicine skin in his hand, just like holding a magical “magic wand”. When the electrode comes into contact with the welding part, a bright arc will be generated, just like lightning in the sky. The high temperature generated by this arc instantly melts part of the metal of the electrode and welding piece into a liquid state. After the liquid metal cools, it is firmly connected together.

Advantages: This method is simple and easy to use, the equipment is not complicated, and it can be operated in various places, whether it is indoor or outdoor, it can't beat it.

Disadvantages: It has relatively high requirements for the technical level of the welder, because the quality of welding depends to a large extent on the experience and skills of the master. Moreover, the production efficiency of manual arc welding is relatively low, and the welders work harder.

Application scenarios: On construction sites, we can often see masters using manual arc welding to connect steel beams; in machinery factories, it is also commonly used to repair various machine parts.

Gas shielded Portable Fiber Laser Welding Machine:

This is like putting a layer of “protective clothing” on the welding area.

During welding, a kind of gas will be continuously ejected, enclosing the welding place, so as not to let the oxygen, nitrogen and other troublemakers in the air come in and affect the welding quality.

Common gas shielded welding are carbon dioxide gas shielded welding and argon shielded welding.

1. Carbon dioxide gas shielded welding:

Carbon dioxide gas shielded welding: Its cost is relatively low, and the welding speed is very fast, which is suitable for welding thicker welding parts.

Advantages: High efficiency, low cost, and good welds can be welded.

Disadvantages: Some metal will splash out during welding, and the appearance of the weld may not be so beautiful.

Application scenarios: It is often used in frame welding in automobile factories and in the construction of steel structures.

2. Argon shielded welding:

Argon shielded welding: it can weld very exquisite and high-quality welds.

Advantages: The welds are as beautiful as works of art, the welding is stable, and there is almost no splashing.

Disadvantages: Argon is more expensive and has high technical requirements for operators.

Application scenario: In places where the quality of welds is particularly high, such as the welding of pressure vessels and aerospace parts, argon shielded welding shows its skills.

3. Argon arc welding:

Argon arc welding: Argon arc welding is like a fine "engraver”.It uses argon gas to protect the welding area, and tungsten electrode is used as the electrode to generate an arc.Because argon has a good protection effect and tungsten is very stable, it can weld particularly fine and high-quality welds, especially suitable for welding thin metal parts and parts with high precision requirements.

Advantages: The quality of the welds is ultra-high, the heat-affected zone is very small, and the deformation after welding is also very small.

Disadvantages: The cost is relatively high and the welding speed is not very fast.

Application scenarios: It is commonly used in the production of stainless steel decorations, the welding of small pipes, and the welding of electronic components.

4. Submerged arc welding:

Submerged arc welding: Submerged arc welding is like a hercules who "works hard”.

During welding, the arc burns under the thick flux layer, the welding wire will be automatically fed in, and the arc will move automatically. Because of the protection and heat insulation of flux, the welding process is very stable and the efficiency is particularly high.

Advantages: It can use a lot of current for welding, so the production efficiency is super high, the quality of the welds is also very good, and the working conditions of the workers are also good.

Disadvantages: It can only work in the flat welding position, and the equipment investment is relatively large.

Application scenario: It can often be seen in the manufacture of large-scale steel structures and the welding of pressure vessels.

Resistance welding:

Resistance welding is like an "electric heating master”.

When the current passes through the welding part, heat is generated because of the presence of resistance.

This heat can cause the welded parts to reach a plastic state or even melt locally, and then pressure is applied to connect them together.

Common resistance welding is bit welding, seam welding and butt welding.

01 Spot portable fiber laser welding machine:

Spot welding: It's like putting small nails on the welding parts and connecting them.It is commonly used in the welding of thin plates, such as the body of a car.

Advantages: The production efficiency is particularly high and the welding quality is stable.

Disadvantages: The equipment is complex and the investment is large.

Application scenario: Submerged arc welding spot welding is suitable for the connection of large structural parts.

02 Seam portable fiber laser welding machine:

Seam welding: It can sew the edges of the welded parts like sewing clothes. It is mainly used for welding sealed containers.

Advantages: Good sealing of welds.

Disadvantages: The scope of application is relatively narrow.

Application scenarios: Splicing welding of large containers and tanks, such as oil storage tanks, chemical containers, etc.; Longitudinal weld welding of pipelines; and some structural parts that require continuous sealing and welding, such as large metal cabinets.

03 Butt welding:

Butt welding: The ends of two bars or pipes are welded together.

Advantages: The strength of the joint is very high.

Disadvantages: The preparation of welded parts is very demanding.

Application scenario: Docking of large and medium-sized plates and components in shipbuilding. The manufacture of pressure vessels guarantees the quality and strength of welds. The splicing of heavy machinery parts meets the requirements of heavy-duty work.

Portable Fiber Laser Welding Machine:

Portable Fiber Laser Welding Machine: Portable Fiber Laser Welding Machine is like welding metal with a super powerful and accurate “lightsaber”.

Advantages: Super fast speed. The weld is particularly narrow and fine, just like a delicate thread, which has little thermal influence on the material. The accuracy is very high, and the welding quality is particularly good. It can realize automated operations and save manpower.

Disadvantages: The current equipment is expensive, and the cost of purchase and subsequent maintenance is quite high. The assembly accuracy requirements of the welded parts are particularly high, which means that the parts must be placed very accurately.

Application scenario: Some high-precision parts in automobile manufacturing, such as key parts of the engine. The production of electronic equipment is like welding tiny parts in a mobile phone. In the aerospace field, it is used to manufacture extremely demanding components on aircraft and satellites.
