Summer Laser Usage Precautions

2026-01-06

Summer in the central and eastern parts of the Northern Hemisphere: Frequent rainy seasons or typhoons, with distinctly hot and humid conditions. Northern regions: Entering the hottest period, alternating between high temperatures and dry heat or muggy conditions. During typhoon season, coastal areas need to take precautions against wind and flooding. South Asia and Southeast Asia: Many areas are in their rainy season (monsoon season), with frequent rainfall, high humidity, and temperatures between 25–35℃. Europe: Southern Europe: Hot and dry (Mediterranean climate), peak tourist season. While everyone is taking precautions against heatstroke, we also remind you to provide a suitable environment for your laser device to weather the long rainy season and scorching sun.

First, let's look at the normal operating environment for laser devices:

During operation+10℃—+50℃

IP 54: Ingress Protection, an international electrical standard. IP rating refers to the protection level of electrical equipment enclosures against the intrusion of foreign objects. Controlling ambient temperature and humidity is crucial; provide an air-conditioned room for the laser.

During summer and rainy seasons, hot and humid environments easily cause condensation. Condensation can damage the electrical and optical components of the laser, even leading to malfunctions. To avoid condensation, the environmental conditions for the laser must be within specified limits.

At a room temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, a relative humidity below 100% is permissible. Controlling ambient temperature is simpler and easier than controlling humidity; therefore, it is recommended that customers construct an air-conditioned room to maintain the laser's ambient temperature at 25 degrees Celsius.

Laser Usage

What if condensation occurs on the laser?

Wipe away any condensation on the laser casing.

Cool down the environment to within the required range.

If the humidity alarm clears, normal operation is possible; if the laser emits other alarms, please contact after-sales service personnel.

Maintain a clean environment: Besides controlling temperature and humidity, the cleanliness of the environment also affects the normal operation of the laser. The required IP54 protection rating for the laser is only met when all covers, doors, and plates are closed. If the surrounding environment is relatively harsh due to dust or aerosols, we recommend adding an outer enclosure or building a dedicated workroom to ensure the laser is protected from environmental influences even when open.

The dual challenges of high summer temperatures and the rainy season place even higher demands on the laser's operating environment. In addition to following the above recommendations for temperature and humidity control, condensation prevention, and environmental cleanliness, we also encourage users to regularly inspect and maintain the equipment to proactively eliminate potential hazards.
